Louise drove home from Lindsborg just in time for the Achievement 4H dinner. Layton received several awards. Marit got her first year pin!! They attended 4-H Sunday at the Catholic Church this year.

In the afternoon we helped decorate the spook house for the Boo Bash at Halloween.

Cut some more Milo today. Fortunately our grain elevator is not filled as so many others are. Our Dighton Co-op holds about 4 million bushels in the entire system.

Louise had a conference call about the Wheathearts upcoming Festival of Breads. We co-sponsor it with the Kansas Wheat Commission. It will be in April. Louise is the president of the Kansas Wheathearts, sponsors of Wheatmania.

Another football game for JV and we won.

It is getting colder all the time but leaves are still green. No hard freeze which would sure help this Milo.

October 21

Not much cutting now, as it is green due to sucker heads. Vance continues to work on stories. Got a call that we'll have a Chinese visitor tomorrow--one of the guides who led Louise with her Kansas Ag and Rural Leadership (KARL) class III in China.

Marit loves to draw pictures. She's making them for Halloween decorations. There was a Kansas Health and Environment Dept. meeting here addressing the questions people have about large-scale swine production. There 's lots of division on the issue and fears to be addressed. It was an excellent informative meeting.

Phillip loves Kansas. He is the one from China. He said he could feel how friendly the people are in Kansas especially when he was just in Los Angeles. Louise showed him buffalo, Milo, our archeological site with its cultures from 12,000 years ago. He visited schools, our museum and our home. He loved it all.

Marit missed school and dance so she could go with Louise to take Phillip on the grand tour.

October 24

The wind is really going-40 to 50 miles per hour and cold. The football team won!! Unbeaten so far.

October 25

A major blizzard hit. We stayed close to the fire. Vance wrote. Marit and I read, baked a pie. The snow is blowing horizontal!! It is really bad. We are suppose to attend a wedding but don't think we'll venture out plus the roads are now closed.

A neighbor called about another man being lost in the storm. Fortunately he was found.
